Ni de Aqua, Ni de Allá — 1st Place Winner, JCPenney HSI Design Challenge

Campaign Description:

Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá is a wearable reflection of dual identity, created to honor the Chicano experience and those who navigate life between cultures. This oversized T-shirt design features a conflicted heart on the front, symbolizing the tension of belonging to two places at once. On the back, a bold zig-zag line divides the design, representing the space between heritage and birthplace—a visual metaphor for those who have felt they are “too much” or “not enough” for either side.

This piece serves as both a statement and a reminder: identity is not about choosing one side, but embracing the strength and beauty found in both. Through Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá, I aimed to give voice to the in-between experience of Chicanos in the United States who navigate cultural duality with resilience, pride, and love.
